Parenting: Handling Tantrums In Home School
When teaching young children in a home school environment, not every day is going to go as well as planned. Home school children are just like other children who can be emotional. Stress in the home school environment may lead to tantrums. Tantrums in home school children may occur for a number of different reasons and they can be hard to handle.
Tantrums for young home school children may happen in or outside of home school class time. In some cases you may be able to handle the situation with simple techniques that other moms do.
A child who is taught in a home school environment may have a better advantage than a young child who goes to a normal public school. A home school teacher may be able to rearrange schedules to benefit the child. A nap session may be introduced to give younger children a refreshing few minutes' sleep. Some moms recommend naps as a cure for tough tantrums.
In other cases, when the tantrums are less severe, it may be the child is hungry or is feeling stressed. In a home school environment with flexible schedules, you could introduce an earlier snack time or bring in an art class or another enjoyable class that the children pick out.
In some instances, a home school teacher may realize the child is merely behaving badly, instead of the tantrum being induced by stress. In this case, a home school child may be disciplined by being assigned chores or additional home school assignments. Younger children may be disciplined with five minutes of silence in a room alone.
